  • About me
  • EDUCATION I have completed a Master of Arts degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Administration and Leadership, with concentrations in Total Quality Management, Human Resource Development, and Communication Arts (Negotiation/Bargaining) at Plattsburgh State University of New York. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from St. Lawrence University majoring in Government, Speech and Theatre, and Music. I was St. Lawrence’s first and last Triple Major.

EXPERIENCE Most recently, I have experience as a Business Advisor for the North Country Small Business Development Center where I counselled clients on everything from business start-up, financials, business plans, marketing, and HR. I previously served as an Executive Director of a non-profit which involved, but was not limited to, the planning and implementation of all organization activities and events (fundraising, public relations, educational, and special events), as well as the design of all promotional events materials, coordinating, hiring, scheduling, and supervising a staff of 11, managing a $250,000 budget, database maintenance, form and policy creation, and public affairs and media relations. I further have experience working as a Strand Capital Campaign Consultant/Decentralization Coordinator where I was responsible for fundraising for a $4 million theatre restoration campaign, event planning, grant writing, regranting, auditing, coordinating and supervising a volunteer crew, and Public Affairs and Media Outreach. Lastly, I have experience working as a Securities Paralegal for a large insurance and Mutual Funds Company and a Legal Assistant/Collections Manager in a local law office.

SOC/CIVIC My community involvement includes: Member and Chair, Town of Plattsburgh Republican Committee; Executive Committee Member, Clinton County Republican Committee; Parishioner and Choir Member, Turnpike Wesleyan Church; Gold Award Recipient, Girl Scouts of the North Country.

PLATFORM I have always believed that public service should be a selfless act, performed for the betterment of society. With that said, I intend to serve the public at THEIR convenience, not at mine! I intend to be respectful of the working public, as well as senior citizens and college students, by having office hours that cater to them. I intend to have early morning hours, evening hours, and hours by appointment!

Other things I would like to see are regularly updated Town Board Minutes that are posted on the website, and in a timely manner and contain more than just resolutions and voting records as it currently does. I feel that all town residents should have immediate access to this information and shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get it. The more transparent a government is, the more people will trust their representatives, and the better local government is able to operate.

Finally, I will use my Administrative and computer skills to get the office automated so that applications for most things can be completed and submitted online, with the ability to make online payments as well. In this day in age, this component is essential to make the office run more efficiently.

ADDITIONAL INFO In 2005, I married active duty Army SPC Zachery W. Sirk, who has been deployed to Iraq on two separate missions with the 10th Mountain Division (out of Fort Drum, NY) as a Combat Medic. For anyone who doesn’t realize it, when a partner is serving in the military, his or her immediate family serves too! We continued to serve our country for another 4 years, as Zach enlisted in an Army Reserve Unit out of Malone, NY. I am also proud to be the daughter of Retired Air Force SSGT Jon T. Jessmer. Military life has taught me so much, whether it be strength and courage gained throughout a deployment, or honor and pride in the red, white, and blue (which always flies outside my home on 22B). In addition to my life as wife and daughter, Zach and I are also proud parents of Twin sons, Zachery and Alexander!

Please feel free to contact me at sirkfortownclerk@yahoo.com with any questions or comments. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you! I look forward to your vote on Tuesday, November 3rd. Remember, SIRK for CLERK!

Well, I went door-to-door to over 2,500 homes! As of right now, I am down 432 votes and there are only approximately 140 absentee ballots. I want to thank all those who went out to vote in support of me. It truly means a lot! Although I did not win, I at least created change during the short time I campaigned (mid-Sept until Nov. 2nd)! You'll be happy to know that the Minutes that were not updated and posted online since back in April, are NOW there (as of a week ago)! Likewise, they NOW contain the voting records of the Town Board Members, which I had been campaigning for. I only hope that it continues that way (although I am not very optimistic)! Thanks again! Your vote was a vote for sincere change and I do appreciate your support!

Hello everyone! To date, I have been to over 2,100 homes and reception along the "trail" has been overwhelming! It has been my sincere pleasure to meet the fine people of the Town of Plattsburgh and I truly do look forward to serving them and putting them FIRST for a change!

It's also funny to see that over the past WEEK, some of my ideas have suddenly been implemented by my opponent!! I guess this is a good thing, right? Well, the Town Board Minutes that hadn't been updated since April, and only contained resolutions and voting tallies (ayes and nays), has suddenly been updated and now includes voting records!? It's amazing what a little competition can do to get people to finally do their jobs. I'm glad it's happening. But, the one thing I can guarantee...if I am elected to serve as your Town Clerk, I will maintain the Minutes in a way that is open and transparent and is ALWAYS updated in a timely manner for the constituents of the Town to see!

I have been out meeting the people of the Town of Plattsburgh (frequently my lovely family accompanies me). We have been to over 400 homes so far and have had many interesting conversations. I really enjoy meeting with you (despite the frequent rain) and look forward to serving you as your Town Clerk!
